THE 1960s
Two college students asked a question that would change the course of human history. Working with analog machines, they discovered something beyond calculation: the beginnings of true artificial consciousness.
That discovery became Vulpecula Industries. Today, the same spirit of inquiry connects our laboratories, our industries, and the millions of lives our work touches.
FIRST SYSTEMS
Turning a laboratory discovery into equipment that others could use required a different kind of work. Facilities, components, operating methods, and service arrangements all had to develop alongside the intelligence of the machines themselves.
Vulpecula brought researchers, engineers, and skilled production teams together around that undertaking. The resulting experience established the company’s lasting connection between fundamental science and practical engineering.
WIDER HORIZONS
As Thinking Machines took on more demanding assignments, their applications expanded. Research programs gained new analytical capacity. Industrial teams found new ways to coordinate complex operations. Communications and medical specialists began to explore possibilities within their own fields.
Vulpecula developed new businesses around those opportunities, supported by shared laboratories and growing manufacturing capabilities. Each new application added experience that could help the next.
WORKING TOGETHER
Growth brought a broader range of professional disciplines into the corporation. Power generation, transportation, life sciences, materials, and aerospace each presented requirements that could benefit from the work of several Vulpecula teams.
The operating-group structure developed to support that cooperation while keeping specialist responsibility close to customers. It remains the basis for how our divisions work independently and together.
1975
Today, Vulpecula’s seventeen divisions participate in the essential activities of a connected world: communications, medicine, food, energy, transport, industry, finance, and the exploration of space. Thinking Machines remain the common foundation of our approach to progress.
The scale of the company has changed. The founding conviction has not. Give a good question the attention it deserves, bring capable people together, and make the answer useful.
